Cuttack: The Crime Branch (CB) of Odisha police, probing the Patnagarh parcel bomb incident claimed to have collected some fresh evidences against accused Punjilal Meher. CB sources said the investigation team has seized a receipt bearing Meher’s Bullet motorcycle’s number from a bike stand at Kantabanjhi railway station. Meher had reportedly boarded a train to Raipur in Chhattisgarh from the station and couriered the parcel bomb from there (Raipur) to his colleague Sanjukta Sahu’s residence.
“Two employees of the bike stand at Kantabanjhi railway station have identified Meher during a simulation exercise. The duo will be made witnesses to the case,” said a senior CB official.
However, the CB has failed to identify the auto-rickshaw driver who had carried Meher to the office of a courier agency in Raipur.
It is worth mentioning that Sahu’s newly-wed son Soumya Sekhar and her mother-in-law were killed in the parcel bomb explosion with Soumya’s wife Reema sustaining injuries in the incident.
“We have collected some evidences against the accused. We will soon file the case diary and a preliminary chargesheet against him in lower court,” said the official.
