Jajpur/Berhampur:In three separate incidents, three students including two girls ended their lives over poor results in the recently declared Board of Secondary (BSE) matric examination.
In the first instance, a 16-year-old boy committed suicide Tuesday by consuming poison at his house over poor results in the matric examination that was declared Monday May 7, 2018.
The incident was reported from Bari area in Jajpur district. The teenager was identified as Padmalochan Mallick.
Sources said, Padmalochan Mallick was a student of Ratneswar Vidyapeeth in Ratalanga village of Bari Tehsil. He had scored total 263 marks in the matriculation examinations.
Utterly disappointed over his academic performance, Padmalochan took the extreme step and consumed pesticide kept at his home.
Family members spotted him lying unconscious and rushed him to the Alipur primary healthcare centre (CHC). As his condition deteriorated, the doctors referred him to Jajpur district headquarters hospital (DHH). However, he succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Similarly, another girl of Kainjira village under Sukinda block in Jajpur district also reportedly ended her life as she failed to crack the HSC examination. She was identified as Laxmipriya Mohanta, a student of Satyanarayan Memorial High School at Sansaile.
In the third incident, a 15-year-old girl committed suicide after she failed to clear her matriculation examination, 2018. The incident was reported from Narendrapur village under Shergad block in Ganjam district Monday night.
The girl was identified as Lily Swain. In a state of depression, the girl consumed some poisonous substance after knowing that she had failed to crack the examination.
Family members potted her writhing in the ground and rushed her to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. However, she died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
