Bargarh: A youth died after sustaining bullet injuries during a firing near BJP office in Bhatli block of Bargarh district Friday night.
Police identified the deceased as Bulu Satnami (18) who was rescued by the locals and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital. Later, he was shifted to VIMSAR, Burla, as his condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to his bullet injuries on the way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, three persons were detained by police for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Sources said Bulu had gone to the party office with his friends for some work. While he was standing near the office, an unidentified man accosted him and opened fire. The bullet hit Bulu’s head. Immediately, the miscreant fled the crime scene.
While the motive behind the attack is not yet known, police and locals suspect it to be the fallout of past rivalry.
Several places have been raided to nab the miscreant, said a police official.
