Balasore: A policeman escaped from the clutches of Vigilance sleuths after the latter arrested him. Vigilance officials arrested the officer Dusasan Mahailk of Kausagad outpost under Raibania police limits in Balasore district on a charge of graft.
Mahailk had demanded Rs 9,500 from Sambhu Rana of Banakati village to settle an old case. Ran had alerted the Vigilance officials who had laid a trap. When Sambhu paid the money to the policeman, the Vigilance officials caught him red-handed with the cash.
However, Mahalik managed to escape from the clutches of Vigilance officials into a nearby forest. He was not caught till the last report came in.
