Bhubaneswar, Feb 16: Host Mukteswar Cricket Club (MCC) beat defending champions Scan Sporting (SS) by 37 runs to enter the semifinals of the NM Bhuyan and Sourav Mohanty Memorial Trophy cricket tournament here Monday.
Opting to bat first, MCC scored 189 runs in 38.5 overs with Sidhant Ray (44) emerging as the top scorer. Mahavir Prasad (29) and Sumit Lenka (25) also chipped in with useful contributions. Sidhant Jena (3/21) and Niranjan Behera (2/30) bowled well to restrict the opposition.
Chasing the target, Scan Sporting were dismissed for 152. The only batsman to shine for them was Niranjan Behera (51). Rakesh Mohapatra (3/31) and Aman Shastri (3/38) shared six wickets among themselves. Sidhant was adjudged as the man of the match. Solar Club will meet RYCC in the third quarterfinal match Tuesday.
