Puri: Uncertainty looms large over timely preparation of ropes for the chariots of Srimandir deities’ Rath Yatra in view of the ongoing `work boycott’ agitation by employees of Orissa Cooperative Coir Corporation Limited.
Sources claimed that the Intelligence department has sent a communiqué to district superintendent of police claiming that the coir corporation may not be able to supply the chariot ropes on time if the stir by its employees continues for some more days.
Employees of the coir corporation launched their `work boycott’ agitation June 21 and have even threatened self-immolation if the state government does not fulfill their demands within seven days.
Notably, a unit of the coir corporation at Birapratappur near Chandanpur had started preparing the chariot ropes a few days ago.
