Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Tuesday opened another series of 23 hybrid toilet complexes for public use.
The new complexes are located at Ward – 3,4,9,13,18,25,29,32,36,37,41,45,48,52,55,57,62,63,64 and 67. BMC officials said the complexes would provide sanitary services to more than 5,500 people. In a process, which started June 26, the civic body has added the toilet complexes with 120 more seats. With this new addition, the city now has 41 hybrid toilet complexes altogether.
The earlier 18 toilet complexes, with 100 seats, are estimated to provide services to around 4,500 citizens. Experts said the hybrid toilet complexes will help both the nearby community members and the floating population, ensuring better sanitation. Presently, combining public, community, hybrid and Project Samman toilet complexes, BMC has 175 toilet complexes with 1,641 seats providing service to around 1,00,000 people across the city. Besides, individual household toilets are also financed by the urban local body (ULB) as per the standing norms, where each family having no toilet can apply and avail the facility.
