Khordha: A woman was killed after being set on fire allegedly by her father-in-law at Dingar village under Begunia police station in Khordha district for dowry.
The victim in her death statement said that she was locked in a room by her husband and mother-in-law for days. However, when their demand for more dowry was not met her father-in-law Rabi Barik poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze. She susutained severe burn injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Later, she succumbed to her injuries Thursday.
The parents of the victim have lodged a complaint with the Begunia police. The police have registered a case and is investigating into the matter.
