Raghunathpur: A minor boy was killed in a road accident after a car rammed into a roadside chicken counter at Barti Chhak on Cuttack-Paradip road under in Cuttack district Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Kanda Singh.
Sources said, a car was on its way to Paradip from Bhubaneswar. At Barti Chhak, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the chicken counter. The vehicle came to halt only after dragging Kanda, who was standing near the shop.
Villagers immediately rushed him to Raghunathpur community health center (CHC) and then shifted him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where the doctors declared him brought dead.
The news of Kanda’s death irked the locals who staged a demonstration by blocking the road. They demanded compensation for the deceased family. Later police reached the spot and pacified the agitators.
