Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: Amid Opposition outcry over the suicide case of Rayagada DWO Dhaneswar Prusty inside his office last week, the state government Saturday notified transfer of collector Sashi Bhushan Padhi and project administrator (PA) of Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) Gorachand Gamang.
Both Padhy and Gamang were under attack for their alleged role in abetting Prusty’s suicide. Prusty’s wife had reportedly blamed the two senior officials in the suicide case of her husband.
While Padhi has been shifted as additional secretary of Health, Gamang has been posted as APD, DRDA. Meanwhile, School and Mass Education department additional secretary Jagannath Mohanty will take over as the Rayagada collector in place of Padhi.
However, the transfer of the two officers, prompted the Opposition parties to further train their guns on the state government. Members of the Opposition benches created an uproar in the Assembly over the issue.
Speaking to reporters outside the House, leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra said, “Instead of taking action against the collector, the government has transferred him to a prized post.”
Condemning the move, Mishra demanded a CBI inquiry into the case. The BJP members also criticised the state government’s transfers ‘‘after the incident.’’
BJD chief whip Ananta Das, however, rubbished the allegations and asked the Opposition parties to stop ‘‘politicising everything.’’
