Sambalpur: The water level in Hirakud dam touched 610.71 ft by Saturday evening with 1,83,000 cusecs of water entering into it per second. Heavy rains continued to lash various parts of Sambalpur and other parts of the state.
Meanwhile, 15,000 cusecs of water was released through Bargarh, Sasan, Sambalpur distributaries and power channels per second. Sources in the dam control room said as heavy rains continued in the upper reaches of the dam, water level is likely to rise.
In last 24 hours, upper reaches of the river recorded 12.77 mm rainfall while the lower reaches recorded 93.73 mm.
