Bargarh: Irasis Acharya, State Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), was Thursday arrested in connection with a firing at Bhatli in Bargarh district.
The Bargarh Town police had earlier summoned Acharya for questioning. He was later arrested.
Activists of the BJYM staged protest before the police station over the arrest.
It may be mentioned here that Bulu Satnami (18) of Chamarpada in Sohela area of the district was killed after sustaining bullet injuries on his head during a firing in front of BJP office near Acharya’s residence in Bhatli June 1.
Satnami was initially admitted to the Bargarh district headquarters hospital in a critical condition and later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Burla and doctor declared him brought dead at VIMSAR.
