Baripada: The district administration has returned money to 187 chit fund victims (small depositors) in the first and second phases while it has stepped up efforts to do the same in the third and the fourth phases in Mayurbhanj district.
To get the refund, 8,535 chit fund victims have applied, and are waiting with their fingers crossed.
According to information available from the collectorate, a report has been prepared by the administration on the basis of 3,048 applications from victims in the third phase and 5,487 applications in the fourth phase.
The tehsil offices had made a database of all the chit fund victims who have made their claims through applications in the two phases.
The victims will be selected on the evidence of their documents and proof. They will be provided money from the Corpus Fund.
Assistant collector of the judicial wing of the collectorate Pramila Mallick and the senior clerk were engaged to disburse the funds.
However, reports about chit fund victims have not been provided by the authorities of Shyamkhunta, Betanoti and Rairangpur tehsils to the collectorate.
A number of chit fund companies have fleeced crores of rupees from thousands of people who have been hopefully waiting for return of their money after the state government announced a corpus fund for them.
