Cuttack: A person allegedly killed himself by slitting his wrist and throat as he was unable to bear the medical expenses here at SCB Medical College and Hospital in the city.
The deceased was identified as Dhananjay Tarai,30, a resident Raghunathpur area under Balasore Sadar police limits.
According to sources, Tarai was undergoing treatment at the TB ward of the hospital since August 9. However, he was not responding well to the treatment for which his family was spending a lot of money. This prompted Tarai to take the extreme step.
While his parents were out of the hospital Saturday morning, Tarai went to an under-construction building in front of the TB ward and ended his life.
A supervisor of the building spotted the body and alerted the police who seized the body along with the knife.
The parents of the deceased filed a report stating that their son committed suicide, informed Arun Kumar Swain, the inspector-in-charge of Mangalabag police station. Accordingly, police registered a case (1442/18) of unnatural death.
