Kutra: An elderly woman was killed for a mere Rs 150 at Jouramunda Kerapada village under Kutra police limits in Sundargarh district Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Kalari Bage (55). According to sources, Kalari had hired Saroj Dungdung of the same village for Rs 150 to plough her farmland. However, Saroj refused to do the job after taking the money. An irate Kaleri persuaded him to return the money.
In a rage, Saroj, who had spent the money, strangled her to death. After getting the information, police reached the village and sent the body for autopsy.
A case was registered and a probe was launched after the arrest of Saroj, the police said.
