Kolimati: In a shocking incident, a 10-ft long python swallowed a goat at Biswakarma Sahi under Anandapur block in Keonjhar district Friday.
The snake was found with a bloated belly near the house of Okila Chandra Rana. Reports said a goat of Okila went missing Thursday. His family members search for the animal, but did not find it.
Friday, Okila and his wife went to a nearby mound and were shocked to see a python trying to swallow the goat.
They managed to drag out the python from its hiding place into the open. On learning about the incident, people from nearby villages rushed to the village to witness the scene.
Forest officials from Ghatagaon range visited the village and took the reptile which was later released in a forest.
The forest officials thanked Okila and his family for not killing the reptile. They also assured the family that the latter will be provided compensation for the loss.
