Dhenkanal: Tension ran high Thursday at the collectorate here after the local bar association members clashed with the police over their series of demands.
The demands included opening of a new police outpost, a proper waste disposal mechanism at the district headquarters hospital and stoppage of Rajdhani Express at Dhenkanal railway station. The agitators took out a rally and gheraoed the collectorate shouting slogans in support of their demands.
The situation turned worse when police tried to stop the agitators from entering the collectorate. The angry lawyers hurled eggs and tomatoes at the police.
They alleged that no development projects are being undertaken for a long time. Meanwhile, police were trying to keep the situation under control till filing of this report.
