Sambalpur: Three businessmen from Bada Bazaar area under Khetrajpur police limits in this district were detained by Chhatisgarh police after they could not account for Rs 87, 50, 000 cash recovered from them.
Though the incident occurred Tuesday in Chhatisgarh, the news reached here Thursday.
Sources said, Anurag Sori of Bada Bazaar area and two of his friends Gurubesh Singh and Ishwar Rao were on their way to Raipur in a new car bearing no registration number when they were waylaid by a patrolling team of Singhida police Tuesday evening. The cops found cash from the vehicle after a thorough frisking.
While they said the money belonged to transporters, the income tax department there has initiated a probe, it was learnt.
