Dhamnagar: A young girl was allegedly molested by two youths on the pretext of offering her lift on their motorcycle while she was waiting for a family member at Dhamnagar square under Sadar police limits in Bhadrak district late Monday night.
The matter came to the fore after the victim lodged a complaint with Dhamnagar police Tuesday morning.
According to the complaint, the victim was waiting for one of her family members at Dhamnagar square Monday night. Meanwhile, the two miscreants on a motorbike approached her on the pretext of giving her lift.
She claimed to be acquaints of her father and promised to drop her home on their two-wheeler. Believing them, the girl went with them.
However, half-way the youths began to touch her inappropriately and tried to take her to an isolated place with bad intentions. Left with no option, the girl jumped off the vehicle and sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, a petrol pump employee who was returning home after work spotted them and came to the girl’s rescue. Seeing the petrol pump employee, the youths sped away. A case has been registered and further probe is on, police said.
