Badasahi: A minor girl committed suicide by hanging herself at Chhelia (B) village near Badasahi in Mayurbhanj district Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Shradhhanjali Singh (16).
According to the family members, everyone in the family went to bed after dinner Saturday morning. While everyone woke up Sunday morning, there was no response from Shradhhanjali.
Family members knocked the door but to no avail. Later, they alerted neighbours who then broke open the door only to find her hanging from the ceiling fan of her room.
They recovered her and rushed to Badasahi community health centre (CHC), the doctors declared her brought dead. The exact reason for the girl’s extreme step is yet to be known.
The police seized the body for post-mortem and launched an investigation. A case of unnatural death was registered in this connection.
