Bhubaneswar: Japan has evinced its interest on setting up industries in Odisha. Consul General of Japan in Kolkata Masayuki Taga, who met Odisha Industries Minister Ananta Das at his office here Thursday, said the Japanese are interested to set up industries in East India and have chosen Odisha for this.
He said, more than 1,000 Japanese industrial units are in operation in different parts of India while majority of them are located in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. But, now Japan wants to set up industries in eastern region of the country and has chosen Odisha for the purpose.
He said India and Japan have a very close socio-economic and cultural relationship and Japan wanted to strengthen it further by investing in Odisha.
Taga assured the industrial growth of Odisha with the joint collaboration of Odisha and Japan.
During the meeting, Minister Ananta Das advised the Japanese delegation to ensure that more and more industrial houses from Japan participate in the upcoming Make in Odisha Conclave to be held here this year.
Das said since Japan is co-organiser of the Make in Odisha conclave, its success depends on the number of Japanese industries participating in the event and the amount of investment offered by Japanese industrialists in Odisha.
The industries minister hoped the rich mineral resources of the state, communication facilities, energy, port and the single-window system for approval of projects would have a positive impact on entrepreneurs to invest in the state.
In addition to capital investment in industries, the minister also sought the cooperation of Japan in education, culture and research sectors.
