Cuttack: E-newsletter, a monthly developmental mouthpiece of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), is not being published for the last nine months.
The municipal corporation had started publishing the e-newsletter, The Kathajodi—Asara Prabah, on its dedicated portal to make people aware of the developmental projects being undertaken by it for the Millennium City.
The last e-newsletter published by the CMC was in December last year. According to sources, no CMC official volunteered to take the responsibility of publishing the newsletter after CMC deputy commissioner Nirupama Swain, who was in-charge of the publication, was transferred elsewhere in 2017.
“It is mandatory on the part of CMC to publish the e-newsletter regularly to help people aware of its developmental works as per the guidelines of Swachh Sarvekshyan. The newsletter is an indicator for the cleanliness and sanitation work undertaken by the civic body,” said corporator Ranjita Biswal.
Mayor Meenakshee Behera, however, feigned ignorance on the newsletter.
CMC commissioner Sarat Chandra Nayak said they would take steps to resume the publication admitting that the newsletter is an effective medium “to connect” to the citizens.
