BARGARH: Two days after a leopard carcass was recovered from a forest in Debrigarh Sanctuary, the Forest Department has decided to reinstall CCTV cameras at various key locations in the core area the Sanctuary.
Earlier, the CCTV cameras installed in the sanctuary were removed due to Maoist activities. Talking to media persons Wednesday, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Sandip Tripathy confirmed that CCTV cameras would re reinstalled inside the sanctuary.
To track the presence of the tigers inside the sanctuary, PIP (pug impression pad) method would be employed, he added.
The PCCF, who had visited the sanctuary following the incident, said that the postmortem report had revealed that the carcass, which was believed to be that of a Royal Bengal Tiger was that of a leopard.
A day back, Forest and Environment Minister, Bijayshree Routray had also said that the forensic test suggested that the carcass was of a leopard.
