Bhubaneswar: The state government is keen to strengthen its partnership with Singapore-based Temasek Foundation International and ITE Education Services (ITEES) to continue the Leadership Development Programme (LDP).
“Under the LDP, as many as 100 government ITI (industrial training institute) principals and officials have undergone training at ITTES in Singapore in three phases. After getting training, they adopted good practices in their respective institutes. We are very much interested to continue it further for transformation of polytechnics as well,” said Skill Development and Technical Education secretary Sanjay Singh here, Thursday.
The proposal is under consideration of Temasek Foundation International (TFI), he said, adding, “We are also planning to carry out student exchange programme with ITTES.”
With the implementation of the programme, the state has been able to rank second by bagging 22 medals in the All India Skill Competition, the secretary pointed out.
A delegation comprising TFI senior director (programmes and partnership) Gerald Yeo and ITEES director (Asia) Lim Boon Tiong visited various ITIs and skill development training institutes to review the programme. TFI has provided the funds for execution of the programme.
While interacting with the media at the state Secretariat, they expressed their satisfaction on implementation of the programme.
Gerald Yeo said, “I have visited a few institutes and witnessed that the implementation of LDP is extremely remarkable. Our investment has yielded result.”
Lim Boon Tiong said the state government did extremely good work in terms of skill development of youths in the past few years. Suitable progress has been made in the past nine months following the implementation of LDP. The state is moving forward to create a skilled society, he added.
