Digapahandi: Dreaded criminal identified as Jay Pradhan was nabbed after he sustained bullet injuries in a police encounter in Ganjam district Friday.
The arrestee is a history-sheeter of Bamkai village under K. Nuagaon police limits.
Acting on a tip-off about his presence in the area, police raided his house following which Jay open fired at the policemen in fear of apprehension. However, he sustained bullet injuries in the retaliatory firing by policemen.
Sources said, five policemen were also injured during the exchange of fire and have been admitted to Digapahandi community health centre.
Police also seized a country-made pistol, Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle, a crude bomb and three empty bullet cartridges.
