Rourkela: Police Friday recovered a mutilated, half-naked body of a woman from roadside on National Highway-143 near Kasada square under Takayatpali police limits in Sundargarh district.
While the identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained, locals suspected it her to be raped before being murdered by miscreants who later dumped her body alongside the NH-143.
The matter came to the fore after passers-by spotted the body in a pool of blood early Friday morning. Soon after the news spread in the village after which police were informed.
On receipt of the information, cops reached the spot and launched a probe. The body was seized and sent for post-mortem.
Police suspect that some miscreants might have raped the woman aged around 25 years and later killed her before throwing the body on road. However, the exact caused behind the incident will be revealed once the post-mortem report is received, police said.
Two days ago, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a minor boy in Sector-B area of Bondamunda in Sundargarh district.
