New Delhi: Australian spin legend, Shane Warne has said that Virat Kohli is the ‘best leader’ of men but not the ‘best tactical captain’. While talking to ‘NDTV’ the leg-spinner has also picked England and India as the two favourites to win the 50 overs World Cup which will be played later in the year.
Warne has picked Australian Tim Paine and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson as the two ‘best tactical captains’ in the game at the moment while stating that that ‘there is a difference between captaincy, tactics and being the leader of men’.
“I think he (Kohli) is the best leader of men. I love the way he leads the side. He is great for the game of cricket. He leads the team so well. But tactically, I would put Kane Williamson and Tim Paine a bit ahead of him. It is very hard to pick a standout captain, but to me Kohli is the best leader,” Warne has been quoted as saying.
Talking about India’s chances in the World Cup, the Aussie legend has said that MS Dhoni will play a crucial role and bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah will have to rise to the occasion.
“Dhoni’s experience will be very handy. He can bat at No.4, 5 and 6. So he should be in the side. For India to do well, Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah will have to contribute,” Warne has stated.
