Phulbani: A differently-abled girl was allegedly raped by a youth after luring her with chocolates when her parents were offering prayers at a temple on the occasion of Mahashivratri here in Kandhamal district, police said Tuesday.
The incident took place at Bisipada village under Sadar police limits. Police detained the youth and started an investigation. The accused has been identified as Babuli Khudai.
The incident occurred when the girl was alone at home while her parents had been to a nearby temple to witness Jagar Yatra on the occasion of Mahashivaratri.
The youth took her to an isolated place on some pretext and raped her. The girl returned home and narrated the incident to her family members who lodged a police complaint.
