Cuttack, May 6: An all-time-high of 82.56 per cent pass has been registered for the High School Certificate (HSC) examinations in the state, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education this year. The results were announced by school and mass education minister Debi Prasad Mishra at the BSE office here Wednesday.
Out of a total of 5,49,374 students who appeared for the examinations, 4,51,959 have passed.
As many as 1,473 students secured A1 grade, with more than 90 per cent marks. As many as 16,021 students secured A2 grade (between 80 and 89 % marks), 46,688 students took B1 grade (70 to 79%), 43,194 secured B2 grade (60 to 69%), 1,10,337 C grade (50 to 59%), 1,21,292 D grade (40 to 49%), 72,954 E grade (33 to 39%) and 39,473 secured F grade (less than 33%marks).
Percentage wise, there has been a rise in the number of students securing more than 60 per cent marks (25.98 %) this time as compared to last year (20.97%).
Balasore was at top in terms of district-wise pass percentage – among districts where more than 10,000 students appeared for the examinations. It registered 91.58 per cent while Bargarh registered the lowest percentage at 72.15. Of the districts where less than 10,000 students appeared for the examinations, Deogarh topped with 93.70 per cent while Malkangiri has the lowest percentage with 60.
The nine districts where pass percentage is less than the state average (82.56 pc) are Puri (73.60), Khordha (77.27), Nayagarh (78.30), Ganjam (78.95), Kandhamal (75.80), Bargarh (70.20), Sambalpur (74.80), Sonepur (73.80) and Malkangiri (60).
