Puri, Dec 15: Over 200 temporary employees of Srimandir administration Monday sat on a dharna in front of the Sri Jagannath temple office demanding regularisation of their services and equal pay for equal work.
The stir paralyzed the functioning of the administration office throughout the day. Srimandir Employees’ Association president said the administration had been promising them of regularising their jobs, but in vain.
“Ahead of Nabakalebar, the administration has conducted a fresh recruitment and hired employees with salaries three times more than ours and other perks,” the workers alleged.
Temple administrator (Rituals) Prakash Hota said the temple chief administrator has hiked the incentives for the workers and assured them to take up their issues with the law department at a recently held review meeting. Despite all these moves, resorting to stir is unacceptable, he added.
