Sukinda (Jajpur): Acting on a tip-off, the poll flying squad seized unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 15.31 lakh from a car near Garamia area in Rengali of Jajpur district late Saturday night.
According to sources, the enforcement squad along with Sukinda police was on motor vehicle inspection when it intercepted a car. During the search, cops recovered Rs 15.31 lakh, in cash, from the vehicle.
The cops then seized the unexplained amount and detained three persons including the driver for further interrogation into the matter.
In a similar incident, the flying squad Saturday night seized Rs 95,000 from an SUV at Bhandabh under Bangiriposi Assembly constituency in Mayurbhanj district. The police also detained one person, identified as Rajesh Shah, a businessman of Kuliana block, in this connection. Further investigation into the matter was underway.
