Cuttack, May 30: Bhubaneswar Athletic Association (BAA) and Bhubaneswar Basketball Association (BBA) won their respective semis here Saturday to set up a date in the final of the State Youth Basketball Meet. The final will be played Sunday.
In the first semifinal, BAA beat Khurda District Basketball Association 33-23. BAA were dominant all through the game and always maintained a lead of five points over their rivals.
The other semifinal was a closely-fought encounter in which BBA edged out Entertainer Club 38-34. Fortunes fluctuated like a clock’s pendulum during the game with the lead frequently changing hands. However, BBA players managed to keep their nerves intact at crucial junctures and scored crucial points to ensure a narrow win for their side.
Academy inaugurated
Shreya Chess Academy was inaugurated Thursday by Dhenkanal District Chess Association president Navin Chandra Narayan Das. International arbitrators Nihar Ranjan Sasmal and Manoj Kumar Roy will coach the budding prospects in the academy.
