Cuttack, May 31: Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati Sunday visited Ravenshaw University and Ravenshaw Junior College here and inspected the infrastructure of both institutions.
Sources said Pati inspected Kanika library, a newly-built academic block, the old academic block, West Hostel, offices and classrooms of the junior college and an NCC office on the university premises.
Pati also participated in a seminar on the proposed second campus for the university at the vice-chancellor’s conference hall. Delegates at the seminar deliberated on the infrastructure issues of the university. They also proposed early construction of the second campus and called for it to be designed as a centre for excellence.
“We have initiated several developmental projects to upgrade the infrastructure. Steps are being taken to introduce Wi-Fi on the campus. We will consider establishment of the second campus after completion of the projects at the existing campus,” vice-chancellor Prakash Chandra Sarangi said. Higher education secretary Gagan Kumar Dhal, collector NC Mishra and Ravenshaw registrar Padan Kumar Jena among others were present at the seminar.
