Malkangiri: Incessant rain over the last two days in this district has cut off two panchayats.
Due to the heavy downpour, the diversion road near Mahupadar village was washed away, leaving Mahupadar and Kamarpali panchayats marooned.
The people of these two panchayats are experiencing lot of difficulties as they cannot go out of their villages to get even essential commodities. People from Chhattisgarh are also facing problems to reach these panchayats.
The water level of Poteru, Kangurukonda, Pangam, MV-11 and Korakonda has increased while the district received an average of 16.57 mm rainfall Saturday.
Padia block recorded a maximum of 33mm rainfall, followed by Khairaput 25mm, Kudumulugumma 22mm, Mathili 21mm, Malkangiri 09mm, Korakonda 04mm and Kalimela recorded 02mm rainfall.
However, there was a slight decrease in rainfall Sunday, improving the situation a little bit.
If such is the situation after a little shower at the beginning of the monsoon, what would happen in coming days, the villagers asked.
They urged the district administration to remain alert to meet any eventualities that could arise due to heavy rainfall.
