manish kumar, post news network, Bhubaneswar, June 17: Three youths from the city soon after completing their studies decided not to follow the traditional path of joining a job in a firm owned by others. The trio, in their early 20s, has now decided to carve out a niche for themselves by kick starting a business aimed at bridging the gap between the customers and various restaurants situated across the city.

Buoyed by the fact that till now no big companies with expertise in this field has ventured into the arena, these enthusiastic budding entrepreneurs are trying to tap the unexplored market of home delivery of restaurant products across the city.

“We were working at tandem to give shape to our idea, which was an arduous task to accomplish. Converting idea into action is always painstaking and challenging, but now we have succeeded in giving shape to our idea. We have launched our maiden startup to cater to the surging need of home delivery of restaurant food across the city,” said 24-year-old Biplab Parida, who is also the MD of the startup that has been christened as wishanydish.com.

The team, comprising just three people from three different backgrounds, takes care of diverse aspects of the business. Biplab is a BTech from Konark Institute of Science and Technology. Another member, Devdutt Pradhan has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Application from Image College, Bhubaneswar, while the third member, Shoubhagya Ranjan Das, has a B.Com degree and is acting as the manager of the firm, which started its journey four days ago.

The firm, though in its infancy, claims to cater to the needs of the whole city with a lean team of just three. When asked how they are managing the demands of the whole city, Biplab said, “Now we have collaborated with around 30 restaurants in the city. We are delivering the orders at areas in the close vicinity to the restaurants. Later, once we expand, we are likely to hire people for delivery. We are working on our future course of action, but even now we are delivering in the whole of the city.”

The firm managed by these young people is now delivering food free of cost to areas close to the food joints and is charging for orders to be delivered at far off places. Till now, the online initiative has around 4-5 restaurants ready to serve food at your doorsteps, but the team has signed up with around 30 such joints and the new entries will come online soon after the paper works are completed, say the team members.

With new entrants in food delivery business likely to enter the city market in the coming months, the new entrepreneurs know that they have a tough task at hand. And they are confident that they will succeed.

The trio says, in the days to come they will announce good offers and discounts on their online orders. Meanwhile, they claim that by August this year their mobile app for online delivery of restaurant food will be ready and it will
enable customers to book orders from any part of the city while on the move.
