Bhubaneswar: A 12-year-old boy from Jharkhand was severely beaten up by the owner of a chowmein factory late in the evening, Sunday. The incident took place in Adityanagar locality under Sunderpada Airfield Police limits. The boy was thrashed for neglecting his duty.
Locals spotted the badly bruised boy crying and informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) office.The CWC officials rescued the minor from the factory premises at around 10.00pm.
The boy told the CWC officials, that the owner used to beat him up and other children working in the factory on the slightest of pretexts. He said he received regular beatings from the proprietor.
The bruised boy was taken to Capital Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. Police have registered a suo moto case at the Airfield Police Station against the owner of the factory and have started their investigation. They also raided the factory premises and rescued the other minors working there.
