post news network, Bhubaneswar, July 1: Students of the DAV Public School, Pokhariput paid tribute to the legendary physician, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy for his contribution to the society, on the occasion of the National Doctors’ Day, Wednesday. The programme was organised on their school premises in the city.
“This is the day when we can show our love and care for the doctors for what we get every day from them is imsmeasurable. They dedicate their lives to the service of the people. They also bring smiles to the people who may have lost faith in life. So it is our privilege and honour to pay tribute to these physicians,” said Shrestha Patir, a Class VI student, who delivered a talk on the occasion.
Moreover, students also took part in various cultural activities. The drama, recitation and the presentation on the importance of doctors for the cause of global health invited huge applause from the audience.
One of the staff of the school, Sakti Prasanna Mohanty, organised the show to mark the occasion. “The main objective of holding such activities is to inspire the students. They will learn to pay respect to the doctors for their services,” said Mohanty.
The principal of the school, Sujata, on the occasion, also urged the students not to forget the importance of nature as well as the doctors in their lives.
Bidhan Chandra Roy is one of the Bharat Ratna awardees. He was also the second Chief Minister of West Bengal. He was a highly respected physician and a renowned freedom fighter. In India, the National Doctors’ Day is celebrated on the date of his birthday (also the day he died) July 1 every year.
