Bhubaneswar, July 4: Six candidates from Orissa have figured among the top 100 scorers who made it to the civil services through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, 2014, results of which were announced Saturday.
The top four women candidates at the national level are Ira Singhal (1), Renu Raj (2), Nishi Gupta (3) and Vandana Rao (4). The top slot in Orissa, however, was also grabbed by a woman candidate, Ananya Das, who was placed 16th among 1,236 successful candidates for appointment to the Indian Administrative Services, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services group A and group B.
In the order of merit, Mohd Abdul Akhtar of Orissa scored 35th rank, Lingaraj Panda 38th, Kranti Pati 50th, Pamela Satpathy 51st and Smruti Ranjan Mohanty ranked 86th.

Others in the list are Sushant Mishra (237), Ashish Panda (276), Satarupa Mishra (303), Nanda Dulal Das (493), Amrit rituraj (650), Apurba Mishra (654), Anshuman Mishra (672), Sucharita Das (711), Dhiman Barai (768), Hruday Das (1,079), Sunil Das (1,161), Rajkumar Das (1,172), Pareshwar Das (1,220) and Rakesh Das (1,231).
The UPSC conducts the civil service examination annually in three stages – preliminary, mains and interview. The written test was held in December 2014 and interview for personal test in April and June this year.
Of the 1,236 candidates, 354 are from OBCs while 194 belonged to SC and 98 STs. The final results were declared within four days of the closing date of the interviews. Of the 4.51 lakh candidates who took the examination, 16,933 qualified for the mains held in December, 2014.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the successful candidates. As a novel gesture, the government has also decided to felicitate the new recruits from state.
