Bhanjanagar: A man, allegedly depressed over family feuds, committed suicide by jumping into a well Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Pravakar Mohapatra. He is the Head of Department (HOD) of history section at Devasthana College situated in Tentulia under Jagannathprasad block of Ganjam district.
According to his family members, Pravakar had been depressed over a family feud. He got up in the wee hours of Friday and moved out to relieve himself. A short while later he jumped into the well. Even though his family members rescued and rushed him to Bhanjanagar hospital, he was declared dead on arrival there.
On being informed, local police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. Police have started an investigation into this incident after registering an unnatural death case.
