Chilkiti: Houses near Gopalpur sea of Ramayapatna village under Chikiti Assembly constituency were completely damaged because of ingress of five feet sea water into the village Thursday.
The affected fishermen families have taken sanctuary in the places of their relatives.
Notably, the state government is giving Cyclone Resistance Houses under ODRP Yojana. Be that as it may, the fishermen families in Chikiti block are yet denied this facility on account of the detachment of the administration.
In 2015, a total of 331 from 450 families were given cyclone resistance houses while another 119 families were kept out of the yojana.
Sea water has consistently moved closer harming properties close to the ocean. Locals have been requesting the administration to include the families under ODRP yojana, but to no avail. .
Additional Tehsildar of Chikiti Sivaprasad Srichandan, ABDO Ramakanta Sahoo and Revenue Inspector Girija Prasad Mallik investigated the affected houses Friday.
When tehsildar Sivaprasad asked he said the affected families were told to go ODRP houses. The detailed report on the issue will be sent to the district administration and Irrigation Department by Friday evening.
