Bhubaneswar: The low pressure area over central coastal Odisha and its neighbourhood will continue to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state over next 24 hours, regional centre of India Meteorological Centre (IMD) said in its afternoon bulletin.
The centre has also issues three different warnings for several of the districts based on the volume of rainfall expected in these areas.
Red warning (take action): Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur.
Impact: Localised flood situation, landslides in hilly areas and disruption of road communication likely to occur.
Orange warning (be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Puri, Koraput, Bolangir, Rayagada, and Nuapada.
Yellow warning (be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and Kendrapara.
Due to low pressure area over coastal Odisha and neighbourhood, squally weather with gusty surface winds with speeds reaching up to 40-50 kilometres per hour are likely to prevail along Odisha coast, west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal. Sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast, west-central and north-west Bay of Bengal coast during next 48 hours, IMD advised.
