Rayagada: A tailoring training centre for women managed by Bansidhar and Ila Panda Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) wing of Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) plant at Therubali in Rayagada district, welcomed the freshers, Wednesday.
K Maleshwari, president of IMFA Ladies Club, welcomed the batch as chief guest and stressed making use of more jute products so as to put a complete ban on polythene materials. Sabyasachi Sahu, industrial promotion officer of district industries centre (DIC) in Rayagada and Radha Shyam Panda, director of social outfit Palli Vikash attended the function as guests of honour.
IMFA’s public relation manager Shakti Prasad Panigrahi spoke on the aim and objectives of the tailoring centre. The DIC, IPO Sahu spoke on various measures being taken by the government to make the women self-reliant. Notably, the tailoring training centre has been functioning since 2011. Over 170 women have received free tailoring training from this centre and earn their livelihood. This apart, arrangements have been made in this centre to provide sewing facilities to train and make women skilful.
Among others, IMFA Ladies Club member Basant Malati Swain, Samita Pattnaik, Minati Dey and others attended the function.
