Dhenkanal: A man sustained critical injuries after being shot at by his elder brother at Belatikiri in the district Monday.
The incident took place Saturday night after a verbal duel between the brothers turned violent. The victim was identified as Bibhu Behera, and the accused as Milu. The victim was been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
According to locals, Bibhu had a heated exchange of words with his elder brother Milu pertaining to a family issue. Things turned violent when Bibhu, in a fit of rage, attacked Milu and hurled a crude bomb. In retaliation, Milu opened fire at his younger brother leaving him critically injured. On being informed, police reached the spot, rescued Bibhu and rushed him to the Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital (DHH). He was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack as his condition deteriorated. Investigations into the matter are underway.
