Cuttack, Jan 1: Regardless of the inclement weather conditions, the Millennium City residents welcomed 2015 with much zest and enthusiasm along with partying throughout the night.
Some people, however, decided to keep the celebrations a low key affair and stayed indoors. Shyamcharan Mohanty, a Link Road resident said, “I decided to celebrate the New Year with my friends at my residence. We decided not to go out as there is risk of contracting common cold and flu.”
However, Sanjoy Bhusan, a Ravenshaw University student said, “The New Year celebrations happen once in a year. I along with some friends went to Jobra barrage and the rain added to the excitement.”
The vacation of the Orissa High Court helped the lawyers welcome the New Year with hope. According to Kishore Dwivedi, a High Court lawyer, “I wish the New Year ushers in prosperity and more importantly happiness for all, especially those in the legal profession.”
Kishore welcomed the New Year with his friends and family members at his residence. Those who had booked hotels in Puri and cancelled them on the last day of 2014 said they took the right decision.
“One cannot spend quality time with friends and family if it is raining,” said Gajendra Swain, a resident of Link Road and a businessman.
Meanwhile, many parks and other tourist spots in the city witnessed poor footfalls owing to bad weather conditions
accompanied by drizzle.
