Nilagiri: Tension gripped at Nilagiri sub-divisional hospital in Balasore district after a youth while working on an electric pole at Podasul area under Nilagiri police limits got electrocuted Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Himanshu Bagh of Naranpur village.
Sources said, Himanshu was an amateur electrician. Yet, Manas Kumar Jena of Baligohiri area, had engaged him to fix a problem on the pole.
While fixing the problem, he came in contact with a live wire and fell on the ground after suffering shock. Though he was rushed to Nilagiri sub-divisional hospital, the doctors there declared him dead.
Hearing the news, the villagers rushed to the hospital. The angry villagers demanded action against Manas as he had hired him even after knowing that he was not a trained electrician. They also alleged that Manas had sent the body in an ambulance to hospital without even informing the family members as he was well aware of his mistake.
On being informed, Nilagiri police reached the spot, seized the body and pacified the villagers with promise of action. A detailed investigation is underway, it was learnt.
