Chhatrapur: Amid fears of a second wave of Covid infection in the country with onset of winter chill, the Ganjam district will start a mega health screening from November 1 with special focus on Berhampur city. It is said that MKCG Medical and Hospital is still receiving a lot of Covid infection cases daily.
If the second wave starts, many people will be infected and those who have recovered from the disease are likely to be re-infected with winter chill gradually gripping some areas.
It is said that there is a need for extreme caution for the people of Ganjam district.
Given the possibility of this situation, the district administration has ordered making use of previously used systems for prevention and caution against the deadly virus.
A couple of days ago, Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange had directed sub-collectors and district level officials to implement the systems.
The Collector observed that the government was not mulling lockdown after the unlock, because lockdown will again adversely impact the life and livelihood of people.
Caution and prevention is attached more importance amid fears of re-infection. It was also decided that testing of swab sample will be intensified.
Though the number of Covid positive cases is decreasing, more infected cases are reportedly coming to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
The Collector had directed the health officials to draw up strategies to glean information about infected people coming the MKCG. Berhampur city will be under focus on health screening while BeMC Commissioner will pay heed to the problem.
Health condition of people in home isolation and under treatment at hospitals will be under scanner. Special attention will be given to patients with respiratory problems.
An awareness drive will be intensified while mega health screening will be launched from November 1 with the help of teachers, Anganwadi workers, and ASHAs.
Teams to be involved in this exercise will paste postcard-size stickers on each house during the mega health screening drive.
‘Panchasutri’ norms will be in force while each shop will be issued Covid safe certificates after necessary examination.
Mask checking points will be made functional at different parts of the city. The Collector had directed taking up awareness drive to increase plasma donation. Sub-collectors will act as nodal officers in this exercise.
