Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Osmania University Tuesday when BJP youth wing president Tejasvi Surya and his supporters removed police barricades to enter the campus.

He and his supporters were stopped at NCC Gate by the police. The BJP MP and other leaders and workers accompanying, however, forced their way into the campus by removing the police barricades.

Surya and other leaders reached Arts College, where he addressed the students and youth.

“BJYM is power of youth of India! No fences, no barricades, no police force can stop us from doing the right thing. The more you try to stop us, the more powerful will be our fight back,” Surya tweeted.

The BJYM chief, who is in Hyderabad to campaign for BJP for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, alleged that he came to the university to pay respects to martyrs of Telangana but Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao instructed police to stop him.

Stating that Osmania University was the epicenter of Telangana movement, the MP from Bengaluru remarked that the martyrs didn’t belong to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

He targeted KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, for what he called family rule in Telangana. “Telangana is not property of one family. Telangaa was built on sacrifices and on blood and sweat of people and not of KCR family,” he said.

Surya alleged that the definition of democracy has changed in Telangana. “We studied in college that democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people but in Telangana democracy is the government of the family, by the family and for the family,” the young MP said.

He alleged that kind of corruption being seen in Telangana and Hyderabad was never seen. “KCR promised heaven and a golden Telangana but only his family got gold while people got nothing.”

The Yuva Morcha leader said the idea of youth empowerment of KCR and his son KTR is to provide unemployment allowance. “The youth don’t want your pittance. They we want jobs,” he said.

Stating that the youth of Telangana are hardworking, talented and capable, he said they were making significant contributions in all leading global IT companies and also excelling in competitive exams. “Telangana youth have the talents and capabilities but they lack opportunities.”

The MP alleged that KCR is scared of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his popularity. He called for building a new Telangana and new Hyderabad under Modi’s leadership. He claimed that a wave of change is sweeping and this revolution is being led by youth

“This is fight for self-respect and future of Telangana. We will take Telangana to new heights,” he said.

Earlier, Surya paid tributes to Telangana martyrs at Gun Park near Assembly complex.

Addressing kannadigas’ Association, he claimed that only BJP can live up to people’s expectations as it is the party owned by people while TRS is like a private enterprise owned by a family.
