Delang: Delang police Tuesday rescued a minor girl who had eloped with her lover from a Jammu village December 2. The police arrested the accused from Kalyanpur and identified him as Abhilash Singh (23) of Duomana police station area in Jammu.
According to reports, Abhilash Singh had fallen in love with Shrabani Devi (name changed), a 13-year-old girl who was studying in Class VII. Singh allegedly planned to elope with her after he befriended Baliar Singh of Delang who had visited Jammu some time ago. Baliar Singh is reported to have arranged accommodation for the couple in Kalyanpur.
Meanwhile, Shrabani’s father Kali Das filed a complaint December 3 in Duomana police station. As part of investigation, a four-member team of Duomana police led by sub-inspector Sammer Ahmed reached Delang and sought police help. Delang police IIC Sushil Kumar Mishra then formed a team and raided the house owned by Devdutta Behera where Abhilash was residing with the girl.
Police arrested Abhilash and handed over Shrabani to Duomana police. Abhilash was forwarded to Pipli court for further proceeding.
