Cuttack, Jan 7: DAV Public School (CDA) emerged champions in the BC Parida Memorial Inter-School cricket tournament after registering a huge 153 runs victory over Orissa Police High School in the final at the Sunshine Ground here Thursday.
Opting to bat first, DAV scored an impressive 260 for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated 40 overs. Sawswat Mohanty (98, 88b, 12×4) batted well, but missed out on a deserving century. He was well-supported by Ayush Singh Samant (39, 46b, 5×4). Soumya Ranjan Behera (3/40) bowled well for the opposition.
In reply, Orissa Police HS were never in the chase and were skittled out for a paltry 107 runs in 34 overs against some good bowling by Amit Kumar Das (4/5). Nitish Muduli (38, 75b, 3×4) was the only batsman to offer some resistance with the bat.
Saswat was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant knock. Joining as chief guest Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Asirbad Behera gave away the prizes.
