Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: Top seed Manas parida is leading the pack with a total of six points after the end of the sixth round of the 29th Bhubaneswar Open Chess Championship at the Secretariat Recreation Club here Sunday.
Manas is followed by eight other players with five points each. They are Pravat Ojha, Aditya Patnaik, Kumar Ashok, Birakishore Behera, Sailendranath Rout, Dhirendra Das, Rabindra Moharana and Brajakishore Moharana.
There are three players in the joint third position with 4.5 points apiece. Among them are G Prahallad, Natabar Das and Amit Mohanty.
Huge win for Jharkhand
Jharkhand thrashed Chandigarh by 10-0 in a quarter league match of the National Sub-Junior Girls’ Football Championship at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Sunday.
In another match, Haryana scraped past Bihar 3-1. Hosts Orissa will meet Telangana, while Tamil Nadu will take on Manipur in different matches at the Satyabrata Stadium, Monday.
Hockey Orissa League
Hockey Orissa (HO) will organise 5A side Hockey Orissa League for the first time at the Cricket Academy Ground in Cuttack, starting January 29.This was decided by a HO meeting Saturday.
A total of 12 teams will participate in the tournament. As per the rule every participating team will put up five players in the match with four substitute players.
Warriors meet Trotters
Rayudu Warriors and Trotters entered the final of the Yuva Basketball Tournament after winning their respective semifinal matches here Sunday.
In the first semifinal, Warriors triumphed over Shining Star 78-63. In the second semifinal, Trotters prevailed over KBA 72-49.
